
Coal India Ltd has informed BSE that in terms of Ministry of Coal order dated November 30th 2011 and office Order November 30th 2011 of GM (Personnel) CIL Mr N. C. Jha Director (Technical) CIL has assumed the additional charge of CMD, CIL wef December 01, 2011 for a period of two months or till a regular appointment is made or until further orders whichever is earlier.
Mr Jha was given the additional charge of CMD after its former CMD Mr PS Bhattcharyya retired in February 2011.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board, which handles hiring for the public sector firms, recommended Bharat Coking Coal chief Mr Tapas Lahiri as the first contender and Western Coalfields Head Mr DC Garg as the second contender for the top post in CIL. But the Coal Ministry had requested PSEB to change the selection panel into a search panel to choose the person to head the coal firm.
