Kalinga Times Correspondent reported that National Aluminium Company Limited, a Navratna PSU and India's leading manufacturer-exporter of alumina and aluminium has bagged the Engineering Export Promotion Council, Eastern Region's Gold Trophy, as Top Exporter in the Large Enterprise Category for its outstanding export performance during the year 2006-07.

On behalf of the company, the award was received by Mr PK Parida executive director from Arun Kumar Bit, Development Commissioner, FALTA Special Economic Zone, Department of Commerce, Government of India at a function held in Kolkata on last Wednesday.

Since inception, NALCO has achieved spectacular success as the country's leading exporter of alumina and aluminium. During the financial year 2006-07, NALCO has achieved the highest ever sales turnover of INR 6515 crore, including the highest ever export earning of INR 2585 crore. The net profit was also the highest ever at INR 2381 crore during this fiscal.

It may be mentioned that NALCO enjoys Super Star Trading House status and it is the first Indian aluminium company to be registered with London Metal Exchange for its high quality products.
