Aluminium PSU major NALCO would infuse INR 1,700 crore as equity in the Kakrapar nuclear power plant in Gujarat to pick up 49% stake.

Mr BL Bagra CMD of NALCO said that "NALCO will pick up 49% equity at a price of INR 1,700 crore in the Kakrapar nuclear power plant.”

He said that the size of the Kakrapar plant would be 2X700 MW in phase II adding Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited is also a partner in the project.

Mr Bagra told reporters that the plant would be commissioned by 2015.
