The Meghalaya Government has accorded approval to the Memorandum of Agreement to be signed with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation for executing two power projects in Meghalaya.

The MoA for a 500 MW thermal power project in Garo Hills and a 85 MW Mawphu Stage II hydel project is to be signed shortly.

NEEPCO has selected Narengri in East Garo Hills district as the proposed site for the thermal project and coal would be brought in from the neighboring mines of South and East Garo Hills.
