BL reported that Hydro power firm NHPC Ltd has announced a net profit of INR 616.64 crore in the quarter ended September 30th 2009, down by 2.63% over INR 633.31 crore in the September quarter last fiscal.

NHPC in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange said that the company’s total income increased to INR 1,247.44 crore in the quarter under review from INR 1,038.67 crore during the same period previous year.

For the six month period ended September 30th 2009, net profit rose to INR 1,118.74 crore. Its total income jumped up to INR 2,361.93 crore in the six month period.
