
The state run Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited has undertaken three thermal power projects worth INR 13,270.22 crore for further expansion in Tamil Nadu.
The ministry of coal said that the projects include the expansion of thermal power station TPS II at Neyveli at an estimated cost of INR 2,452.57 crore, the NTPL coal based power station at Tuticorin at INR 4,909.54 crore and the New Neyveli Thermal Power station at Neyveli at INR 5,907.11 crore.
NTPL is a joint venture between NLC and the state electricity board.
While the Neyveli project is expected to be completed by July 2012, the Tuticorin project is scheduled to be completed by January 2013 and the New Neyveli project by December 2015.
