NMDC choose Danieli TSCR technology for Nagarnar steel plant

On August 24th NMDC Limited and Danieli led consortium have signed the contract for the supply of the Thin Slab Casting and Rolling Mill for their new Integrated Steel Plant to be located at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh.

The complex is an integrated steel plant starting from iron ore through BF route to produce 2.9 million tonnes per year of Hot Rolled Coils via thin slab casting and rolling technology. It will produce hot rolled coils having following specification
Strip thickness: 1.0 mm to 16 mm
Strip width: 900 mm to 1,650 mm
Coil weight: up to 35 tonne
Specific coil weight: up to 22 kg/mm

The thin slab rolling package includes vertical curved slab caster, tunnel furnace, 2R+4F (5F) Finishing mill, coil handling and storage area. It will be supplied by Danieli and its associated partners on turnkey bases including all auxiliary facilities, civil works, buildings, cranes, roll shop, etc.

400,000 tonne per year of the HRC will be converted into 2 million to 12 million long sheets through a cut to length line which is also part of the scope of supply.

The caster features the well know Danieli Vertical Curved design with a radius of 5,000 mm and metallurgical length of 14 million. It comprises two independent casting strands having an hourly average capacity in excess of 205 tph each.
