
Mr RS Sharma CMD of NTPC on the occasion of NTPC completing 34 years of dedication to the Nation said that NTPC is a world class company in terms of size and performance and a technology road map is being prepared to make NTPC economically viable and sustainable electricity provider in future as well.
Mr Sharma said that the long term Corporate Plan shall also include strategies, fuel and technology choices with measures to deal with changing environment.
He reiterated that NTPC is among the cleanest fossil fuel power generators in the world and its CO2 intensity is comparable with the best. Performance of NTPC power stations on parameters of capacity utilization, availability, planned outages, has been found better compared to global utilities who are members of North American Electric Reliability Corporation which maintains a data base of 5000 unit’s world over.
Real time web based monitoring of projects, control rooms to monitor fuel transportation, efficiency improvement through NTPC Energy Technology and Research Alliance and Centre for Power Efficiency and Environment Protection reduction of project completion cycle and online CO2 monitoring equipments at all NTPC projects were the other areas that company is committed to while achieving its target to be a 75000 MW company by the year 2017.
Mr Sharma captured the achievements, initiatives and future strategies of the company in his address. He also released the 6th volume of Timeless Treasures a collection of short stories to promote value actualization through power of moral messages.
