According to Mr R Venkateswaran regional ED South of NTPC, NTPC Ltd, which is taking up the mega 4000 MW thermal plant at Kudigi in Bijapur district of Karnataka expects to finalize the award of contract for the main plant equipment package within a month.

Speaking at the Raising Day Celebrations and providing an overview of the status of projects in the South, he said that the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board has already allotted 1,923 acres of land for the project implementation and remaining aspects of land acquisition are underway at brisk pace.

He said the Southern Region is also in the forefront in taking up renewable energy projects and NTPC had already signed Power Purchase Agreements with the Karnataka and Kerala Governments to set up wind energy projects.
