National Commission happy with SAIL RSP steps for tribals

Statesman News Service cited Mr Maurice Kujur vice chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes as saying that the initiatives undertaken by Steel authority of India Limited’s Rourkela Steel Plant, in the field of tribal welfare is impressive.

Mr Kujur interacting with a gathering, which included Mr SN Singh MD of RSP and other senior officers, elaborated on the key thrust areas, where the steel plant must concentrate to further improve the tribal welfare measures. He said that “The tribals are very sensitive and shy hence all the welfare measures directed towards them, must have a human touch.”

Mr Kujur also appreciated the initiatives taken by RSP, such as Project Kiran aimed at combating alcoholism and absenteeism amongst the tribes.
Mr Singh elaborated on the various schemes run by RSP and expressed the steel plants commitment towards ensuring the tribes, better opportunities of growth, while retaining their native culture.

The departments of social welfare and corporate social responsibility made presentations on their various social efforts for the tribal populace.
