
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited has contracted Danieli to supply a new 850,000 tonne per year structural mill that will produce a wide range of structural section types and sizes, at rates of up to 200 TPH.
The new mill will be will be installed at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in the Andhra Pradesh State and will be fed with blooms and billets produced at the 3 new 6 strands Danieli FastCast conti casters, presently under construction for the same site and due for startup as from middle 2010.
The plant will be basically made up of:
1. Danieli Centro Combustion 200 TPH walking beam type reheating furnace.
2. 17 stand super flexible continuous mill, entirely made up of the latest generation SHS housing less stands in horizontal, vertical and combined H-V or Universal arrangement, all with automatic stand replacement for quick program changing.
3. Double finishing outlet made up of 2 lines each including 90 meter long cooling bed, on line straightening machine, side transfer for full length bar layer formation, a set of cold saws for cutting to commercial length, 3 single head magnetic stackers and stack strapping and collecting facilities.
All electrical and the advanced automation system will be provided by Danieli Automation. The scope of supply will include design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, testing, packing, supply, erection, startup, testing, commissioning and demonstration of performance guarantees of the facilities for the structural mill, on discrete turnkey basis. The new mill’s product range includes 100 mm to 180 mm beams, 100 to 120 parallel flange columns, 75 mm to 150 mm channels and correspondent angles and tees and 45 mm to 95 mm diameter rounds and correspondent squares. The start up is scheduled for the Q1 2011.
