BS cited Mr Jairam Ramesh minister of State for Power as saying that there is no change in the position taken by NTPC in the litigation over gas supply from RIL’s D-6 block of the KG basin that the supplier is in breach of contract.

Mr Jairam Ramesh said that “As far as NTPC is concerned, RIL is in breach of contract with it. NTPC has repeatedly said this. There is no dilution of the NTPC position at all.”

Under the contract RIL had offered to sell gas to NTPC at USD 2.34 per million British thermal unit. NTPC had taken RIL to court seeking supply of 12 million cubic meters per day after the two firms could not resolve the matter themselves.
