BS reported that the Orissa government feels that TATA Steel and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, which are implementing their steel projects in Orissa, would start production by 2013.

Mr Raghunath Mohanty state minister for industries and steel & mines said that "Both TATA Steel and JSPL have stated that they would start production by 2013.”

He also said “Similarly, Bhushan Steel Ltd expects to commission its 6 million tonne per annum steel plant by 2014.”

He added “All steel companies including POSCO India have agreed to abide by the mandatory employment clause of the state government which stipulates that industries setting up their units in the state have to reserve 90% jobs in the unskilled and semi skilled category, up to 60% in skilled category and 30% for the supervisory and managerial cadre while giving them the option to fill up the post of senior executives from the open market.””

The state steel & mines department reviewed the status of 23 steel projects while the status of remaining projects will be reviewed on Wednesday.
