ToI reported that Heavy Engineering Corp is all set for a mega facelift in 12th Plan with capital investment of INR 15,000 crore from the union government.

At this point of time, Mr GK Pillai its outgoing CMD who attained superannuation this December, appealed to HEC's young officials to take lesson from Team India skipper Mr MS Dhoni to learn leadership qualities.

Addressing the gathering during his farewell, Mr Pillai said that Mr Dhoni raised the level of competency of team members as a result of which India clinched some major victories, including the World Cup.

He said that "For becoming successful, one has to set new benchmark and level of competence adding that HEC must tread on that path in future.”

Mr Pillai further said that "HEC certainly has a bright future in the years to come and the company can achieve INR 5,000 crore turnover within next five years.”

With the major capital investment department of public sector enterprise has decided to modernize the foundry forge plant, the mother plant of the company, and help it obtain work orders from the steel sector. For modernization of integrated steel plants, HEC will get support of the Centre for collaborating and transfer of new technology from foreign nations which will ultimately promote import substitution for the national exchequer.
