
Indian prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh has dedicated Bina Refinery to the nation at a ceremony held at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.
The event was also attended by Mr Rameshwar Thakur governor of MP, Mr Shivraj Singh Chauhan chief minister of MP, Mr S Jaipal Reddy minister of petroleum & natural gas, Mr Kamal Nath minister of urban development, Mr Kantilal Bhuria minister of tribal affairs, Mr RPN Singh minister of state for petroleum & natural gas, Mr Jyotiraditya Scindia minister of state for commerce & industry along with other dignitaries and senior government officers.
Refinery has a capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum and is equipped with state of the art technology to produce Euro III & IV petroleum products. The Refinery has an inbuilt flexibility to meet Euro V equivalent standards for petrol and diesel with minimal investment.
Adjacent to the Refinery complex is the Bina Dispatch Terminal, with product storage tanks and dispatch facilities for both rail and road movement of petroleum products.
The Refinery and the Bina Despatch Terminal are spread over 2500 acres of land.
Bina Refinery is equipped with world class technology and has the flexibility to process all types of crude oil. The project established at a investment of over USD 2 billion has bottom upgradation facility to ensure yield maximization. Bina Refinery has the flexibility to process all types of crude.
The Bina Refinery project comprises of a Single Point Mooring system located at Vadinar, Gujarat which facilitates unloading of crude oil from Very Large Crude Carriers. The crude received at Vadinar on the west coast is transported to Bina along a 935 kilometer long pipeline passing through the states of Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh. The crude oil goes through hi tech refining processes at Bina and the resultant products include Petrol, Diesel, Aviation Turbine Fuel, Kerosene, Naphtha & LPG. Sulphur and Per Coke are also produced in the process.
Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd, is a company formed to set up the Bina Refinery and the Company is promoted by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. BORL has an equity participation of 26% by Oman Oil Company and about 1% by Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.
