It is reported that on September 30th POSCO broke ground for POSCO-ICPC at the Renault-Nissan Supplier Park at Chennai in India.

The construction of POSCO-ICPC will be completed in late April 2010 and it will have an annual output capacity of 120,000 tonnes of automobile sheets.

The Chennai region in southeastern India has been witnessing a growing demand for automobile steel as major automakers like Renault-Nissan, Ford, M&M and HMI are expanding or building production factories in the region. POSCO-ICPC is expected to provide its clients with various services, including auto sheet supply and technology support.

POSCO built the first and second plant of POSCO-IPPC in Pune in December 2006 and April 2009, respectively. The company also started operating POSCO-IDPC near Delhi in December 2007.

When POSCO-ICPC begins operating, POSCO will be able to link India’s three major automotive cities Pune, Delhi and Chennai.
