POSCO war Zone - Odisha to resume land acquisition

DHNS reported that the land acquisition matter was discussed in detail at a meeting between Mr Naveen Patnaik CM of Odisha and Mr Yong Won Yoon CMD of POSCO.

Mr Yoon said that “POSCO has already been handed over about 500 acres of land. We are hopeful of getting the rest of the land very soon. We will start construction work for the project once the state government hands over the entire 2,700 acres of land to us.”

He said that significantly, the MoU signed between the Odisha government and POSCO for the implementation of the important project is yet to be renewed though it has expired in 2010. He said “POSCO has already handed over the required papers and documents to the state government for the renewal of the MoU.

POSCO requires around 2,700 acres of land for the modified project of which 2,000 acres have already been acquired by the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, a government of Odisha undertaking, assigned to acquire the land.
