
Two days after villagers in proposed steel plant site near Paradip detained its four vehicles, POSCO India appealed to locals to facilitate movement of containers as opening of an office would expedite disbursement of compensation and project related work.
The company in a statement said that "With a view to expediting all project related activities including land preparation and disbursement of compensations, POSCO India is trying to open a site office in the project area.”
This would facilitate execution of various project related activities in close coordination with local people which was being done from its Kujang office.
While two containers of prefab office structure have reached Nuagaon, four of these trucks are still held at Gada Kujanga, the statement said appealing to people and concerned authorities to allow these containers to move to identified site to enable the office to become functional.
Stating that the road passing through GadaKujanga is a public road where unhindered movement of traffic should be allowed in the interest of development of the area, it sought cooperation of local people and all stake holders. Reassuring the people that it was committed to well being of local community, POSCO India said that "we solicit support and cooperation of all people to create an atmosphere of goodwill, cooperation and mutual trust."
