With little time left before expiry of stipulated 90 days within which an appeal can lie to the Supreme Court against the Orissa High Court judgement on the POSCO deal at Jagatsingpur, the Orissa government seems all set to take the legal battle forward.
The state has now resolved to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Orissa High Court decision which had set aside state’s action of issuing prospecting license to the steel major for its 12 million tonnee steel plant in Jagatsingpur.
Talking to our reporter the state’s steel and mines minister said that his government has decided to challenge the high court order setting aside the prospecting license about four months back.
He stated that his ministry is already in consultation with legal experts.
The high court judgement was pronounced in July last. It is however possible to file an appeal even after 90 days, the maintainability of which would depend on the discretion of the court.
