Mr Virbhadra Singh Indian steel minister said the controversial INR 54,000 crore POSCO project in Orissa will soon see the light of day as the Indian prime minister is looking into the issue.
Mr Singh told PTI that "Dr Manmohan Singh is involved in the matter. I am engaged with it. POSCO matter will be resolved soon.”
Steel minister said that "If the need be, I will even take up the matter with the Minister of Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh.”
The minister's statement comes in the backdrop of Orissa chief minister seeking the PM's intervention after the Environment Ministry asked the state government to halt all project related work, citing violation of green norms in acquiring land.
Earlier this month, Steel Secretary Atul Chaturvedi had said that the project may get all the necessary clearances in a month.
