PTI reported that with South Korean President Mr Lee Myung-bak seeking the Indian government's cooperation in setting up POSCO steel plant in Orissa's Jagatsinghpur district, protesters burnt his effigy.
The PPSS, which has been on a dharna since June 2, burnt an effigy of the South Korean president.
Mr Abhay Sahu president of POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti said “We are surprised how the president of a country bats for a private company like POSCO. It is none of the South Korean government's business whether the people of India will allow POSCO project on their land or not.”
Ms Manorama Khatua chief of PPSS's women's wing added “It is unfortunate that Mr Lee does not understand the agony of the people who have been opposing the project for the last six years,.”
