The detained officials, including the POSCO DGM, were later released as police rushed to the spot and intervened. The situation turned tense as the police swung into action to take into custody two protesters.

The detained persons were additional district magistrate Mr Sujeet Das, special land acquisition officer Mr Nrusingha Charan Swain, and POSCO Orissa’s DGM Mr SN Singh.
