ET reported that exactly a month after the Mongolian cargo ship MV Black Rose sank in the Bay of Bengal off Orissa coast near Paradip, the Paradip Port Trust has awarded the much awaited oil salvaging contract to an US based agency.

Florida based Resolve Marine Group has been chosen through a global tender to drain out 940 tonnes of furnace oil trapped in the wreckage.

Mr K Raghuramaiha chairman of PPT told reporters at Paradip that “The work on draining out oil from the capsized vessel will begin within 10 days. The entire exercise will last 45 days.”

The operation will entail an expenditure of about INR 17.50 crores.
