R&D Centre for Iron and Steel, the corporate research unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd., in association with Centre for Engineering & Technology of SAIL and MECON Limited, is organizing an International Conference on Rolling & Finishing Technology of Steel (RAFTS-2012) during October 4-6, 2012, at Ispat Bhawan, Ranchi
The Conference is being organised under the aegis of Indian Institute of Metals with the theme "Challenges & Opportunities in Rolling Mills”. It is planned to discuss more than 100 technical papers from all around the world on different topics related to rolling and finishing of flat and long steel products.
Eminent technologists are invited from different corners of the globe to share their valuable experiences in diverse fields of rolling and finishing technology. The Conference will provide unique opportunity for technical and business discussions to the technology developers, equipment suppliers, steel makers, researchers, academicians, consultants, lubricant suppliers, roll manufacturers, managers, students, and others.
RAFTS-2012 will be dealing with various innovations in Rolling & Finishing Technology for enhancing the performance of Steel Industries. In addition to this, deliberations will be made on some other topics of fundamental nature and of general interests. Some of the broad areas to be covered in technical sessions are:
1. Futuristic technologies in rolling of flat and long products
2. Advancement in hot and cold rolling mill equipment
3. Reheating technology of steel thermo mechanical controlled processing of steel
4. Modeling and simulation of rolling process roll pass design
5. Rolling of high strength steels development in rail & wheel rolling technology
6. Endless rolling of HR strips compact strip processing
7. Near net shape casting and rolling processing of coated rolled products
8. Pickling technology coupled pickling and cold rolling
9. Re rolling of steel annealing technology
10. Temper rolling energy efficient and environment friendly rolling technologies
11. Tribology (friction, wear and lubrication) in rolling mills automation in rolling mills and processing lines
12. Rolls and roll management testing and quality control of rolled products
