ET reported that Rajkot Chamber of Commerce & Industries has invited TATA Motors to shift its small car project Nano.

It is learnt that spare parts being used in the Nano are supplied from Rajkot and transportation charges saved will help the company to reduce its price further by shifting the project in the city.

The invitation was given after the TATA group indicated that the project could be moved out of West Bengal because of constant violence and disruption that is threatening the security of the workers. Shares of the company closed up by INR 22.7 or 5.44% at INR 440.35. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 938,398.
