
The RINL Collective on Saturday mourned the death of 19 executives and employees in the June 13 blast at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and offered its condolences to the bereaved families.
At the meeting convened by the Steel Executives’ Association at Multi purpose Hall, Ukku Club, Mr AP Choudhary CMD of RINL described the incident as very tragic and unfortunate. He said that “We have lost very good hands. The loss of life of so many while rectifying a snag shocked me a lot.”
Two minutes silence was observed by all.
Apart from SEA, office bearers of all the trade unions attended. All the RINL Directors were present.
SEA general secretary Mr TKSR Tagore said they had already requested the management to increase the compensation amount to the next of kin of the deceased employees.
The unions also wanted increase in ex gratia of INR 2 million which was paid in addition to regular benefits.
The management was also urged to treat the case of a management trainee, Atul, who died in the blast. Being a trainee, he was not covered under company insurance scheme.
