It is reported that Reliance Power has synchronised the first of two units of its 600 MW Butibori Thermal Power Project near Nagpur.
Power generated will mainly be distributed to industrial as well as distribution utilities in Maharashtra.
Reliance Power said the first unit had been synchronised in a record time of over 21 months from boiler erection.
The second 300-MW unit will be commissioned before the end of this calendar year.
The INR 3,600-crore plant is among the most compact-sized thermal plants with its 600-MW capacity requiring not more than 275 acres.
Mr JP Chalasani CEO of Reliance Power said "Butibori demonstrates our expertise and experience in building large-scale power projects. With Butibori, our operating capacity goes up to 1,540 MW.''
