BL reported that Steel Authority of India Limited’s Bhilai Steel Plant has developed and rolled out a new grade of plate for use in the manufacture of pressure vessel for a petrochemical project.
BSP rolled the special steel variety after conducting transverse impact toughness test. The plates would be used for the manufacture of pressure vessel under a high pressure and sub-zero temperature condition in petrochemical projects.
According to a BSP note, two other special steel grades of plates are in advanced stage of development. One, meant for use by Titagarh Wagons Ltd, is for manufacture of high speed light wagons. The second one under development stage is a dual grade boiler quality plate for intermediate and low temperature application by boiler and pressure vessel manufacturers.
BSP, after the installation and commissioning of end forging facilities, is now also ready to commercially supply end forged thick web asymmetric rail to the Indian Railways and corrosion resistant grade of plate for the manufacturing of bogey frames for rail coaches, to be used by BEML, for the Delhi Metro project.
