BL reported that Steel Authority of India Limited’s Bhilai Steel Plant has floated a global tender to appoint a consultant to prepare a detailed project report to develop the Rowghat iron ore deposit site.
According to BSP sources, the consultant will recommend best processing plant, beneficiation facilities and mining layout. The bidder has to respond within 45 days.
Meanwhile the work on the first phase of rail connectivity covering 42 kilometer out of a total of 95 kilometer from the Dallai Rajhara mines to the Rowghat deposit site is expected to start soon.
A spokesman for BSP told Business Line over phone that “We are expecting the work on first phase to start in December. This is the indication we’ve received from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd which is responsible for implementing the project”.
This follows completion of acquisition of revenue land sufficient for construction of 42 kilometers of railway line. The spokesman, however, could not indicate when work on the balance 53 kilometers would begin.
The spokesman said that “This is because land acquisition over some stretches is yet to be over and the problem persists with forest land for which environment clearance is still awaited.”
