
India Blooms News Service reported that the Kolkata based Shyam Group is expediting production at its integrated steel plant with the commissioning of the first phase of a 1.1 million tonne per annum project at Jamuria in Burdwan district of West Bengal.
This INR 9900 crore project is the first steel plant in West Bengal to have an integrated process of ore to stainless steel production spread over 400 acre land. It also has built a 1000 MW captive power plant.
The first phase of production has started from June this year but when two remaining phases are completed, production will be in full swing. In the first phase of production they have already invested INR 1500 crore.
Mr Brij Bhusan Agarwal vice CMD of Shyam Group said “If everything runs swiftly as per plan full fledged production may start around 2015-16."
The first phase of production has been commissioned in June 2010 and it provides 2500 employment directly and 1500 indirectly, Agarwal said.
The plant when completed will generate 8500 employment in the vicinity of Jamurai,
