Siemens Ltd said it has won INR 86.6 crore contract from Bangladesh Power Development Board for construction and up gradation of substations.
This order to construct six new substations and upgrade 14 similar substations, is the single largest received by infrastructure and cities sector of Siemens Ltd for gas insulated switchgear panels.
Mr Armin Bruck MD of Siemens Ltd said that "Bangladesh, like other emerging economies of the world, faces the challenges of high power system losses, low efficiencies and erratic power supply. The substations built on Siemens' gas insulated switchgears improve power efficiencies and generation capacities, while consuming lower real estate.”
The project is funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation Agency. The new and upgraded substations are located Sylhet, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Tangail, in the eastern and central parts of Bangladesh.
