
It is reported that Siemens reinforces its commitment to offer latest technology to Indian customers at an affordable price in the fast growing demand for Gas Insulated Switchgear. The Power Transmission Division, part of the Energy Sector, celebrated handing over of 100th Bay of Gas Insulated Switchgear from its state of the art factory at Aurangabad. The GIS was handed over to Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited, received by Mr S K Negi MD of GETCO.
The state of the art factory has achieved a distinction by supplying the complete range of GIS, starting from 72.5 kV up to 420 kV in a short span of time. A very high level of localization, coupled with development of the required competencies in the area of engineering, quality, sourcing, manufacturing and project management was responsible for the successful achievement of this milestone. The clientele for Siemens' GIS comprises leading companies in Power Generation, Transmission, Utilities and Industry.
Mr Pawan Parikh head of Power Transmission Division at Siemens Limited said that "I am delighted with the growing trend among our customers towards setting up Gas Insulated Substations. This solution saves substantial space and has lower operating and maintenance cost, together with very high reliability.
