Government has decided to start the construction of the Sampoor Coal power plant in September. This decision was taken at the meeting held between visiting Indian Minister Jeyaram Ramesh and Minister Basil Rajapakse at the Ministry of Economic Development recently.

Minister Basil Rajapakse expressed gratitude to the Indian Minister for the support extended by the Indian Government for the development programs in Sri Lanka. The Indian Minister stated that several leading Indian entrepreneurs are willing to start IT parks in Sri Lanka.
