BS reported that union steel ministry has slammed Ms Mayawati led Uttar Pradesh for non cooperation in granting iron ore mining lease in Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand region.

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited had applied for securing the mining lease, but the clearance for the same is still pending with the state government.

Union steel minister Mr Beni Prasad Verma addressing the media after a steel dealers’ meet said that “If the lease is granted, a steel plant would be set up in the region. This would not only provide employment to 10,000 people, but even lead to greater economic development in the region.”
