The Hindu reported that the Government has requested the Survey of India to take up the work by taking the assistance of officials of both states.

In a letter to the director general, Survey of India, Dehradun, the government said “There is an inter state boundary dispute between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in the border of Bellary taluk of Bellary district in Karnataka and Rayadurga taluk of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.”

Speaking to presspersons after the performance review of his departments by Mr BS Yeddyurappa CM of Karnataka, Mr Janardhan Reddy minister for Tourism said the revenue minister has written to the Survey of India to take up a joint survey to correctly demarcate the boundary between the 2 States.

Mr Janardhan Reddy, who is one of owners of the Obalapuram mining company said “We are not against conducting the survey. We are against illegal mining in the State.”

Mr Janardhan Reddy said the allegations leveled by leaders of opposition parties on illegal mining in Bellary are baseless.
