REpower Systems in which Suzlon Energy is a majority shareholder with 90.71% holding and WSB have concluded a contract to deliver 15 wind turbines to Poland.

The REpower MM92 turbines each have a rated power of 2.05 MW and a hub height of 80 meters. They are due to be constructed and commissioned at the Lipniki wind farm near Opole in south-west Poland by fall this year.

With a total output of 30.75 MW, the Lipniki wind farm is so far the biggest project undertaken by the Hamburg-based wind turbine manufacturer in Poland. REpower only entered the Polish market in 2009 with the two wind farms Leki Dukielskie and Bukowsko near Rzeszow.

Mr Per Hornung Pedersen CEO of REpower Systems said that “Poland is currently one of the fastest-growing markets for wind energy which makes this contract extremely important to REpower Systems AG. We see a lot of potential in the Polish market for wind power. The country is home to many more prime wind locations. We are also delighted to be working alongside WSB in Poland following the successful completion of a joint project in Germany.”

Repower`s many years of experience was a key criterion in the selection of the turbine type, adds WSB. Furthermore, the reliability and high performance of REpower MM92 will also ensure that the wind park operates without any problems. In the end, the flexible and non-bureaucratic negotiations between both contractual partners helped ensure that the tight project deadlines were met, says the Dresden-based company.
