Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy said it has bagged a contract from Gujarat State Petronet Ltd for setting up a 52.5 MW wind energy project in Gujarat.
Suzlon Energy in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange said that the company would set up, operate and maintain GSPL’s 52.5 MW wind energy project in Rajkot and Porbandar.
The filling said that as part of the contract, the company would supply 35 units of Suzlon S82-1.5 MW wind turbine generators that would generate 52.5 MW of power.
The project is scheduled to be completed and commissioned by July 2010. The company, however, has not disclosed financial details of the project.
It added that pursuant to the order, the overall wind power installed capacity of GSPL’s parent company Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd stands at 105 MW in Gujarat.
Mr Ashok D’sa president South Asia and West Asia of Suzlon said that “GSPL is a leading player in developing energy transportation infrastructure in Gujarat and this repeat order, after the successful execution of the first project for the parent company GSPCL, is an endorsement of our customer’s trust in Suzlon’s technology, services and capabilities.”
