With the increasing demand for ENERGY, effective management and conservation of the same has become the need of the hour. Recognizing the immense value that schools and schoolchildren generate, TATA Power started a unique school outreach program called ‘Club Enerji’ in Haldia on World Energy conservation day after the successful implementation of the program in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jamshedpur, Belgaum, Lonavla, Bengaluru and Kolkatta.
Through this initiative, TATA Power believes in involving the youth, the decision makers of tomorrow; to play a vital role in not only propagating efficient usage of energy but also furthering the larger cause of educating the society on resource conservation.
The program has been kick started with two schools in Haldia ie St Xavier School and AG Church School, Hadia, wherein the students were taken through training sessions and workshops focusing on methods and means of energy conservation. The company further intends to extend this campaign to the other schools in the city thereby attaining the desired target of sensitizing maximum citizens.
Speaking on the initiative Mr Anil Sardana MD of TATA Power said that “The enthusiastic response from other cities is really heartening and going by this success, we are confident that the citizens of Haldia will join us in our mission of ‘energy and resource conservation’ and also help us to achieve our goal of sensitizing maximum citizens across the country.”
Mr Vijayant Ranjan station manager of Haldia Power Plant said that “We are overwhelmed by the support and willingness shown by the schools in the city and believe that these students will be the ambassadors of the cause. We are happy to start this initiative on World Energy Conservation Day and pledge to spread the message of energy conservation to as many citizens as possible.”
TATA Power’s ‘Energy Conservation Program’ introduced in various schools in the city, aim at creating maximum impact, to educate and create awareness amongst people on the effective management conservation of electricity in our everyday life.
In order to make the initiative a success, it is important that the people who train the young minds i.e. Principals and Heads of the educational institutions are taken on board for their belief and support as they not only will encourage the young minds but play a supervisory role and monitor the program.
