As a part of its community development initiative and to commemorate the occasion of “World AIDS Day”, TATA Power India’s largest integrated private power utility organized an AIDS awareness program at Naraj Marthapur site in the Campus of Prava Routray College, Godisahi.

200 students from the community attended the program and participated in the awareness and education sessions conducted by the Chief speaker Dr. Sanjay Swain, secretary of HIV/AIDS Society of Eastern India. Dr. Swain shed light on the cause and effects of HIV / AIDs and its situation in India and rest of the World. He stressed on the fact that, it was important to create awareness among the vulnerable age group of 15 to 49 years which is considered a productive group for our Country’s social and economic development.

Mr Bijoy Mohanty popular film actor of odisha films was the chief guest and spoke about the importance of students creating awareness about HIV /AIDs among the general public. Further, a cycle rally was organized starting from the College Campus and covered all the villages in and around the Project area.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Praveer Sinha EVP & PD Eastern Region Projects said that “We believe that spreading awareness about sensitive issues like these among the community will help and benefit our society as a whole. We were delighted to see the positive response from the participants and hope to continue organizing such initiatives in future.”

The program was attended by the company officials, local people and opinion makers from Naraj, Marthapur, Talagarh, Munduli and Thoriapatna villages along with staff and lecturers of the College. The program was presided by the Principal of Prava Routray College.
