
Odissa Diary reported that TATA Steel is building the Keonjhar Bus stand at the cost of INR 7 crore under CSR initiative. The bus stands, which is nearing completion likely to be open for public in the month of November 2012.
This was informed by Mr Sanjeeb Mahapatra senior manager of TSRDS Joda Unit.
Mr Mahapatra said that "TATA Steel’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy is rooted in the belief that the primary purpose of a business is to improve the quality of life of the people. The key initiatives have been in the areas of health, hygiene, education, infrastructure, land, water management, sports, livelihood and empowerment. In order to make the projects sustainable, TATA Steel also encourages participation by people from local villages."
He said that TSRDS also approached Joda Municipality and the state government to build a similar type of bus stand in Joda. To further strengthen civic infrastructure in Joda Steel will also install 300 solar street lights in Joda Municipality area.
He added that TATA Steel will invest INR 20 crore to provide drinking water to the people of Joda. TATA Steel’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy is rooted in the belief that the primary purpose of a business is to improve the quality of life of the people. So in Joda area TATA Steel’s CSR activities spread covers 48 villages, whole Joda Municipality area, Champua Tehsil and other areas.
