Road safety is the duty of all individuals who uses the infrastructure build in our country. Keeping in mind the same view and to create awareness regarding correct usage of Zebra Crossing, a campaign was initiated by SAFE-TATA Steel inside the plant premises, at the corporate office premises and outside the plant (near traffic light of GORC canteen) today at the early hours of morning. Students from various educational institutions like ADL Sunshine School, Sakchi; Dayanand Public School, Sakchi; K M P M Inter College, Bistupur and Graduate School College for Women, Sakchi endeavored to make the event a success.

It was observed in the past that many citizens of Jamshedpur while driving do not follow the rules of road safety properly. According to the trend, the pedestrians should be given the first right to cross at the Zebra Crossing. However, it was observed in most of the cases neither the pedestrians use the Zebra Crossing accurately nor the moving vehicles slow down / stop to allow the pedestrians cross the road.

Today's campaign focused to create awareness among members from General Office AIC and Procurement Division at the Zebra Crossings located right inside General Office premises which includes the Zebra Crossings in front of ITS, Business Center, Corporate Center, and Commercial Center. This activity was taken up actively inside the plant premises (inside works) by the JDC Security Works & FB. It was really inspiring for the employees to see young and bright children from the schools undertaking the initiative of SAFE and spreading awareness on road safety by holding placards and distributing leaflets containing the Do's and Don'ts messages.

To promote road safety further, General Office AIC, JDC Security & FB, SAFE and Procurement Division is launching a Road Safety awareness campaign from December 22nd to 24th 2011, in association with District Traffic Police. The whole campaign was driven under the leadership of Col Ramnik Khanna, Chief of Security, Tata Steel along with convener SAFE, Ms Chandra Sharan, Ms Swastika Basu, Head, LEPAC and with the active support of Mr Bijen Pattnaik of Procurement Department, TATA Steel. Support received from District Traffic Police is commendable.
