In order to provide a platform to the artists from where they can reach more people than they could otherwise, TATA Steel on Sunday organized Art in Industry a camp cum exhibition. As many as 24 eminent artists are participating in the four day event.
The organizers said that while 18 are local artists, six are from Bhopal, New Delhi, Patna and Benaras adding that the exhibition will be kept open for the guests and visitors.
While inaugurating the camp, Mr BK Singh VP Orissa Project of TATA Steel Ltd said that the artists are blessed with the ability to create brilliant pieces of art. But they definitely need support to showcase their creations on a bigger platform.
He added that our aim is not only to create a market for the creations of the participants, but to also provide an opportunity to the lesser known talents and to take their creations to people and appreciate art.
The concept of Art in Industry dates back to 1943 when TATA Steel was one of the prize donors of an exhibition and sale of art held in JJ School of Art, Mumbai, wherein artists were invited to compete for prizes and scholarships.
Mr Singh said that the aim even then was not merely be able to sell the entries or acquire the paintings, but also to bring the talent of lesser known artists to the notice of leading industrialists and patrons of art.
