Business Line reported that TM International Logistics Ltd a JV of TATA Steel Ltd, NYK Holding (Europe) BV and IQ Martrade, Germany has participated in a fresh tender for mechanization of a berth at Haldia port.

TMILL is among the three logistics services companies in the fray for mechanisation of berth No 4B at Haldia dock complex. TMILL currently handles cargo at berth no 12 at Haldia Port.

Mr AK Dutta manager of Administration of HDC said that the other two companies are Seapol Port Pvt Ltd and International Seaports (Haldia) Pvt Ltd. He said that 3 companies have bid for the mechanization of 4B berth. The successful bidder will have to install two new multi harbor cranes for handling cargo at the berth within 6 months.

Mr Dutta said that installation of multi harbor cranes will increase the on board cargo handling capacity of the berth by up to 20,000 tonnes a day from the current 6,000 tonnes a day.

Currently, KoPT handles cargo from ship to the shore at the berth and the on-shore handling is carried out by private operators. According to him, the bidder who quotes the lowest will bag the deal.

Meanwhile, KoPT has received encouraging responses from 6 major companies for its proposed INR 1,450 crore container terminal at Diamond Harbor at a pre-bid conference.
