PTI reported that Chennai based two wheeler maker TVS Motor Company has reported 17% increase in total vehicle sales in September 2011 to 219,369 units. The company sold 188,005 units in the same month of 2010.

Two wheeler sales grew by 17% last month to 215,690 units from 184,783 units in the year ago period. Scooter sales increased 30% to 55,879 units in September, from 43,086 units in the same month of 2010. Motorcycle sales stood at 90,848 units, compared to 81,381 units in the year ago period up 12%.

The company's domestic two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 16% to 192,027 units, as against 165,418 units in September 2010. Three wheeler sales of the company went up by 14% last month to 3,679 units from 3,222 units in the same month of 2010.

Exports of the company increased 27% to 25,973 units from 20,487 units in the same month previous year.
