World No.1 recurve archer Deepika Kumari has joined TATA Steel as a manager in the company’s sports department.

Born in 1994, Deepika joined TATA Archery Academy in 2008 and has since honed her skills there. She is one of the India's biggest medal prospect in London.

Many eminent sportspersons have been employed by TATA Steel and they include Ms Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Mt Everest, Arjuna and National Adventure Award recipient; Dibyendu Barua, chess Grandmaster and Arjuna awardee; Charles Borromeo, Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee; Bagicha Singh, Arjuna awardee; and Jayanta Talukdar, another archer representing India at the London Olympics, besides Deepika.
