
Toshiba of Japan has submitted to Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation its pre feasibility report for development of Manesar Eco City Project.
The feasibility study was funded by the Ministry of Economic Trade and Investment of the Japanese government and includes the basic concept the institutional framework and business plan for the eco city pilot initiative at IMT Manesar including areas such as water, power, logistics, water recycling, solid waste management and transportation.
The eco city project was conceived as a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor initiative. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Haryana were identified as the sites for this project. A MoU was signed between HSIIDC, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation and a consortium of Japanese companies led by Toshiba including NEC, Tokyo Gas. Based on the survey & discussions IMT Manesar was chosen for the pilot initiative.
The project would be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle comprising Japanese and Indian companies and project details will be finalized after approval of the state government.
