
Toyota Kirloskar Motor said that its sales surged by 82% YoY in the 2011 calendar year to 136,150 units.
The auto-maker witnessed sales of 15,948 units in December 2011, alone, far higher than the 6,362 units sold in the same period a year ago.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor in a statement said that "It registered an annual growth of 82% in the year 2011. The company sold 136,150 units, as compared to 74,762 units in the previous year.”
According to the company, its Etios model led yearly sales volumes, with 43,313 units of the Etios sedan and 20,262 units of the Etios Liva small car sold.
The Innova, Fortuner and Corolla Altis models saw sales of 51,930 units, 10,946 units and 9,283 units, respectively, it added.
Mr Sandeep Singh deputy MD (Marketing) of TKM said that the past year has seen good sales despite challenging market conditions and the unforeseen and unfortunate occurrence of a tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand. He noted that "The coming year is of vital importance as we get to witness and contribute to the growing Indian auto industry... We have a new array of vehicles lined up for the year 2012.”
