Ukrainian media reported that an international consortium with participation of the Ukrainian has signed the contract with the Indian state mining corporation National Mineral Development Corporation to INR 1978 crores (About USD 440 million) for construction of coke oven batteries at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh.
As per report, the contract was signed on September 6th 2011 at Hyderabad by Mr Alexander Pilipenko head of consortium Ukrindustriya and Mr NK Nanada director technical of NMDC, Mr Arvind Jain MD of Bhilai Engineering Corporation in presence of Mr Rana Som CMD of NMDC.
Construction will take 33 months and operation is scheduled to begin in 2014.
Ukrainian companies, part of the consortium include
1. National Institute for Designing Enterprises of Coke Oven Industry (Giprokoks Kharkov)
2. Ukrindustriya
3. PFG Concord (Dnepropetrovsk).
Giprokoks is the technical leader of the consortium.
As per report, the complex of coke oven batteries will include two coke oven batteries with total capacity of around 1.763 million tonnes of coke per year and production of metallurgical coke in the volume of 1.551 million tonnes per year, along with the coal tower and two units of dry coke cooling.
