UltraTech Cement Ltd proposes to set up a cement plant at Dankuni in Hoogly district, West Bengal. The project which would require about 103 acre land for the project, has received the clearance from the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.
The plant would have capacity to manufacture 6,000 tonne per day of Portland Pozzolona cement. The plant would require 4,000 to 4,500 tonne of clinker, 1,350 to 1,900 tonne fly ash and 280 to 350 tonne gypsum daily which would be sourced from UltraTech units at Hirmi and Rawan in Chhattisgarh and Tadpatri in Andhra Pradesh. Power would be sourced from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd.
The company is investing INR 11,000 crore over the next 3 years to set up clinkerisation plants in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka including grinding units, bulk packaging terminals and ready mix concrete plants across the country. These expansions are expected to be operational in fiscal 2014 and are expected to boost cement capacity of the company by 9.2 million tonne per annum.
