
The leaders of Visakhapatnam Steel Workers' Union, the recognized union of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant asked the management of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited to expedite the efforts for allotment of captive iron ore mines by the State government.
Mr Ch Narsinga Rao president and CPI (M) district secretary of VSWU along with other union leaders met Mr P Madhusudan director finance of RINL and the General Manager and the Deputy General Manager of the Mines Department.
Mr Rao who met Mr Praveen Prakash, AP Mining Development Corporation Managing Director in Hyderabad recently along with MLC MVS Sarma, sought more pressure from the management for allotment of mines with 15 million tonnes ore as a joint venture between RINL, the corporate entity of VSP and APMDC.
The team also wanted that RINL should make all out efforts for vacating stay on allotment of some mines to the company at Obulapuram. The stay was imposed following a petition lodged by Bellary Mines Company.
